These emissions are expressed in CO equivalents in order to<sub>2<\/sub>compare the climate impact of different greenhouse gases.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b4a81fc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b4a81fc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Calculation of the CO2 equivalent<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-337737f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"337737f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The CO2<sub>2<\/sub>equivalent is a measure used to compare the climate impact of different greenhouse gases. Each greenhouse gas has an individual Global Warming Potential (GWP), which indicates the extent to which it contributes to global warming.<sub>2<\/sub>To express the emissions of different greenhouse gases in CO equivalents, the quantity of the respective greenhouse gas is multiplied by its GWP.<sub>2<\/sub> CO2 is taken as the starting value, which is given a factor of 1.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a4bbf15 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a4bbf15\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">CO2 equivalent of polypropylene (PP)<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bd2c7ee elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bd2c7ee\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Polypropylene (PP) is a widely used plastic in many everyday products. However, the production of PP is associated with high greenhouse gas emissions. Depending on the production process and raw materials used, the CO2<sub>2<\/sub>equivalent of PP is between 1.6 and 2.0 kg CO2 eq\/kg.<\/p><p><strong>e.g.:<\/strong><br \/>The production of 1 kg of PP results in the emission of 1.6 to 2.0 kg of CO2 equivalents.<sub>2<\/sub>This means that 1 kg of PP has the same impact on the climate as 1.6 to 2.0 kg of CO2.<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e109ae0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e109ae0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Reduction of the CO2 footprint of PP<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f7092d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2f7092d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The high carbon<sub>2<\/sub>footprint of PP poses a major challenge. To combat climate change, it is therefore important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during the production and use of PP. This can be achieved through various measures, such as<\/p><ul><li><strong>Use of bio-based raw materials:<\/strong> The use of bio-based raw materials, such as plant fibres, can significantly reduce the CO2<sub>2<\/sub>footprint of PP.<\/li><li><strong>Verbesserung der Energieeffizienz:<\/strong> Optimising production processes can reduce energy consumption and<sub>2<\/sub>therefore CO2 emissions.<\/li><li><strong>Recycling of PP:<\/strong> Recycling PP saves energy and resources and reduces the need for virgin material.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2c883eb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2c883eb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The solution - GC pro as a CO2 upgrader<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-654cd5f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"654cd5f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We are setting new standards in sustainability. The resource-saving approach of replacing virgin PP with sunflower seed hulls has already reduced the<sub>2 <\/sub>carbon footprint per compound to between 0.8 and 1.3 (depending on the formulation). Now we have added a new twist by offering formulations based on recycled material. These granules can be processed just as well as the other materials, but have the key advantage that they only have a CO2<sub>2 <\/sub>equivalent of 0.6-0.8.
