Sustainability meets performanceGC green 3071 MI T6 is a bio-based material that is not only environmentally friendly, but also sets new standards in processing. The material is part of our GC green range and contains an impressive 30% fibre content - derived from sunflower seed hulls, an industrial by-product. But what makes this material so special?
Save energy thanks to low processing temperature
One of the biggest advantages of GC green 3071 MI T6 is its low processing temperature. Whereas conventional plastics often need to be processed at temperatures of around 220°C, this material can be processed at around 180°C. This not only saves energy, but also extends the service life of moulds and machines - a real plus for resource-conserving production processes.
You also get short cooling times thanks to the high fibre content. This means faster cycle times and a more economical manufacturing process.
Ideal for thick-walled products
This material is perfect for products with thicker walls, like urns, and plant pots (it can last up to 6 months outdoors). It's also great for packaging and outer packaging. One of the reasons for this is the special property of the fibres it contains: they swell slightly when exposed to moisture, which has a big advantage - no sink marks.
What are sink marks - and why are they a problem?
When we're talking about plastics processing, sink marks are basically when you get little dents or indentations on the surface of a component. They happen when the material shrinks and contracts unevenly in certain areas during cooling, usually in thicker parts. This can lead to things like visual defects, reduced mechanical stability, and even complaints. So, what are these sink marks, and why are they a problem?
You can see this really clearly in the picture. In the foreground, you'll see a block made from our material. Behind it, you can see a PP block that's collapsed at the top edge. This is a great example of what sink marks can look like.

How GC green 3071 MI T6 prevents sink marks
This is where GC green 3071 MI T6 really shines: the natural fibres from sunflower seed husks can soak up moisture and expand. This is great because it stops the plastic from shrinking, especially in thick-walled areas. This means you won't get any sink marks, which makes the material perfect for applications where looks or mechanics are important.
Sustainable, efficient, visually flawless
GC green 3071 MI T6 is great for the environment and has some real benefits when it comes to how it's made and the quality of the surface. With a high proportion of sunflower seed shells, it's a great alternative to conventional plastics, especially when saving resources, quality and thick-walled components are important.
