The plastics industry is under more and more pressure to come up with solutions that are both sustainable and efficient. With our GC green 71 MI T30 material, we've got an answer that's not only good for the environment, but also works well technically and economically. Here, we'll tell you all about the properties and advantages of this new biomaterial, and you can see it in action at the KUTENO trade fair in Bad Salzuflen in 2025.
Bio-based and functional: Bio-PBS with mineral fillers
GC green 71 MI T30 is made from bio-PBS (polybutylene succinate), a bio-based and biodegradable polyester made from renewable raw materials. We combine it with mineral fillers to get the best balance of stability, how easy it is to process and how eco-friendly it is. These fillers make the material more rigid, and also improve how it responds to heat and how well it keeps its shape.
Optimum flow properties for injection moulding
One of the most important things to think about is the melt volume flow rate, or MVR for short. The GC green 71 MI T30 achieves a value of 11.1 cm³/10 min (190 °C, 5 kg). This makes the material perfect for injection moulding, especially for thin-walled components or complex geometries.
High rigidity with 2200 MPa modulus of elasticity
Even though it's a biological product, GC green 71 MI T30 has the mechanical properties you'd expect from the industry. The modulus of elasticity of 2200 MPa is high, which makes it rigid and stable. This is an important criterion for applications in the technical sector or for durable consumer goods. This means that our material can be used to make not only sustainable but also robust products.
Food-safe - for safe applications
Another key feature is its food approval. GC green 71 MI T30 is perfect for contact with food, so it's great for packaging, cutlery, cups, coffee capsules and storage boxes.
GC green 71 MI T30 is characterised by its light beige colour, which can be customised by using the 10 certified home compostable masterbatches. The material is free from plasticisers and BPA and is therefore suitable for direct contact with food. It can be used in existing production processes without any problems and even enables cycle reductions.
Food-safe - for safe applications
People often have preconceived ideas about bioplastics, especially when it comes to their temperature and water resistance. The GC green 71 MI T30 is the opposite of that: you can put it in the dishwasher and it'll be fine after a few washes. This means you can use it for reusable household products, catering items and durable consumer goods.
Economically attractive: biomaterial under €5/kg
Sustainability must be affordable - especially when switching to new materials. GC green 71 MI T30 is available from Pallet purchase available at a price of less than €5/kg.This gives us a realistic entry into the world of biomaterials - without compromising on performance and processability.
