We are expanding our portfolio with the GC pro range of recycled compounds. These new materials combine the environmental benefits of sunflower seed hulls with the economic benefits of recyclates, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution for a wide range of applications.
Sustainability all down the line:
The new GC pro recyclates offer improved flowability and injection moulding performance. This results in lower injection pressure and therefore lower energy consumption. In addition, the recyclates contribute to a significant reduction in the2carbon footprint.2The CO equivalent of GC per recyclate is less than 0.61 [kg CO2/kg], compared to an equivalent of 1.6 to 2 [kg CO2/kg] for virgin PP.
Cost savings through plastic taxes
With the introduction of plastic taxes in Europe from 2025, the GC pro recyclates offer another economic argument. In Italy and Spain, for example, a plastic tax of €450 per tonne will be introduced, but this will not apply to the use of recyclates. This means a 100% saving per recyclate for companies switching to GC. The UK already has a plastic tax of £217.85 per tonne. Our recyclate compounds are included in this and guarantee a 100% saving.
Careful processing and recyclable
The new recyclate-based formulation of GC pro ensures a lower potential for acid formation, which makes processing gentler and protects moulds from pitting. The recyclates also retain the characteristic natural fibre appearance of Sunflower Plastic Composites. Despite the use of recyclates, the material can still be recycled in its own cycle.
Shorter cycle times and lower energy consumption
GC pro recyclates are characterised by the swelling behaviour of the sunflower seed hulls which, combined with processing temperatures of around 180°C (compared to PP at 220°C), ensures faster crystallisation. This results in shorter cycle times and higher productivity with lower energy consumption.
Conclusion
The new GC pro recyclates from Golden Compound GmbH offer an innovative and sustainable solution for the use of plastics in technical applications. The improved processing, lower carbon2footprint, cost savings from plastic taxes, gentle processing and natural appearance, as well as the fact that they can still be recycled in their own cycle, make these compounds an attractive choice for environmentally conscious companies.
